11 May - 18th May
Michael Blake & Stephen Lewis present paintings & sculptures.
Cuillin Bantock an author, zoologist & abstract painter; on seeing Michael's paintings noted that '.....his images are mostly hard-edged, reduced to a few areas and yet carrying a powerful expressive charge. It is difficult to see how this has been achieved. The work seems nervy and exposed and yet the paint is mostly handled in a plain, matter-of-fact kind of way.'
Bantock says of Stephen Lewis’ work (mostly in welded mild steel but sometimes incorporating found metal objects invariably conveys a strong spatial charge, due I think primarily to his masterly draughtsmanship, his ability to join two bits of metal together in such a way they look as they had been drawn in space.

19th May - 27th May
GHOST IMAGE Exhibition
Lisa McGuinness and Kristian Baughurst are a visual arts collaborative duo exploring themes of illustration, story telling, fashion and personal mythologies.
Lisa draws upon 20 years of fashion & shoe design to create work that captures the joy and humour in modern life with a love of people, portraits and nostalgia.
Kristian is a trained graphic designer and award winning film maker focusing on making and creating mixed media artworks that combine abstract themes with snap shots of visual communication. His recent moving image work has won awards in experimental film and visual poetry. Both residing and working in the UK, Lisa and Kristian have combined their styles and work in a pentimento approach to reveal ideas and pathways. Not afraid to add and subtract from each other, the works are finished when they are finished.
